WOMEN AND FILMMAKING – THE WAY FORWARD
Today, I will be one of the speakers at the roundtable Women and Filmmaking – The Way Forward at the WORKING WOMEN WEEK. I am proud and happy to be sharing this table with five other talented and amazing female film directors. We’ll be talking about how to find your voice in the industry and what the future holds for women in the film business. Hosted and organized by French writer and filmmaker Anne-Cecile Ville.
MOUSSA Y LA EDUCACIÓN DEL BOXEO
Catalan TV Channel Betevé screens my documentary “Moussa y la educación del boxeo” again. You can watch it Saturday May 8th at 7.30pm CET.
I have started to put together a Project I call Changing The Narrative. It is a series of interviews/talks that will showcase inspiring women who have overcome great obstacles in their life and/or who are fighting for a change (setting the narrative straight!). The objective is to interview around ten women – all with very different backgrounds. The interview/talk will be done through Zoom, recorded and uploaded to my YouTube Channel CHANGING THE NARRATIVE.
The talented Tesla Nix has a new song called Something Wicked out, and I directed the music video. I was so happy to be able to bring my good friend and amazing photographer/editor Monika Frias on this project to work her magic. The images are stunning and the editing is coming together beautifully. I can’t wait for Tesla Nix to release this video.

THE HOLLYWOOD TIMES
The Hollywood Times brought an article about the making of my film THE PILL – a collaboration between 9 different countries across the globe in the midst of the pandemic. Read the article here: https://thehollywoodtimes.today/film-pill-gaining-attention-globally-done-100-remotely-zoom-directed-louise-brix-andersen/
We have put together a series of fundraising events to raise the last money needed for our film The Pill. This money will primarily go to festival submissions. I am honoured and grateful that these four amazingly talented, experienced and kind Hollywood Industry filmmakers have accepted to help us out. We have created four amazing events and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
Yesterday I was on Sabby Rosenblatt’s podcast REEL TALK: Secrets to Success. If you are trying to break into the film business, keep an eye open for this podcast. Sabby has some really amazing Hollywood industry people lined up as guests for the next episodes.
THE PILL IS
The film is done!! It has been 7 intense months of hard work and a crazy amount of Zoom calls, but we are finally here. We finished our first Mastermind Production film through a Facebook group, during a pandemic, with the collaboration of 9 different countries across the globe. It’s quite an accomplishment, and I am very happy and proud to now enter the festival circuit with THE PILL.
- WE ARE SO CLOSE
3-times Emmy-award nominee Sean Montgomery is working hard to finish the editing of The Pill. He is working out of Los Angeles while our talented composer Stefan Angelov, based in Germany, is composing the music. The film is taking shape, and I am so very excited to see the film fully finished with music, sound and colour.
This weekend we shot THE PILL!!! I could not have wished for a more smooth and successful shooting. I am thrilled and honoured to have such a hard working crew and cast. We did more than 30 set-ups a day! We were so fortunate to have experienced and talented Director of Photography Eric Oh and Gaffer Adrià Velasco. Actresses Miriam Marcet, Sanna Toivanen and Tina Jawidan did an amazing job. Also, very thankful to have my faithful 1st AD Massimo Perego by my side, keeping the whole shoot under control. What an amazing team!
We have a final draft of THE PILL ready, and we are now moving into pre- production. Spanish Producer March Chica and his production company Limmat Films together with Unit Production Manager Guillem Barceló Fité have joined the production team and are now scounting for a location.
LET’S MAKE A MOVIE
A while ago I thought, is this really it? So, we are not going to make films because of a pandemic? It can’t be!
In the The Entertainment Industry MASTERMIND GROUP I pitched my short film “The Pill” (working title) to the group and suggested that we did this film as a “100% remotely-done-project” taking advantage of the current world situation and bringing people from all other world together in one project. So I am thrilled and happy to announce that we already had our first producer’s meeting and writer’s meeting with a 2nd draft on the table already.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN YOUR QUARENTINE?
I joined a random Facebook group that ended up being a game changer for me. I had no idea that within a month I would win a competition, have a mentoring session with these two amazing ladies Tina Imahara - Film Editor, Mentor & Consultant and Kimberley Browning, creating contacts all over the world with amazing filmmakers and industry people, getting the opportunity to listen, learn and speak directly to professionals of the Hollywood industry such as producer/writer/editor Kevin Lee Miller, producer Kara Welker, acting and directing coach Mark W. Travis, actor Rick Overton and many more.
I cannot recommend enough to get involved and join this group (actually two – the mastermind group is a separate Private FB Group, offering additional support through Peer to Peer Mentoring Sub-Groups) administrated and created by the amazingly hard-working, talented and generous Tina Imahara.
EDITING SEX N’ US
The teaser we filmed 5 days ago, is now almost finished. Pau Galan, our editor, is laying his last hand on it.
Did we finish it before the pandemic hell broke loose?...Yes we did! Exactly on the same day Spain was shut down, and we all were quarantined.
SEX N’ US
Today, Massimo Perego and I filmed our teaser for the educational series Sex N’ Us with our producer Susana Guardiola from Stories By and our amazing crew. A big thanks to the whole team and to all the brave young people who participated. We are all so excited about this project.
FOR NACÍ ASÍ
I’m honored and proud to announce that my short film Nací Así was selected for the Rome Independent Prisma Awards.
Tonight, I was in the company of truly amazing people who really make a difference. I had the pleasure of interviewing Latifa Bennari for my documentary film In My Words. Latifa, the founder and president of French organization Ange Bleu (in Barcelona Angel Blau), works with pedophiles and victims of child sex abuse in a very unique way. She is such an inspiration and a very brave woman. Thanks to Chelo Alvarez Stehle who did an absolutely fantastic job of translation our conversation.
HOW TO SELL
Workshop at Showrunners BCN by Gemma Pascual chief of the development department at Castelao Pictures (Filmax).
I participated in this workshop with the objective of improving my skills of pitching stories and elaborating professional and engaging treatments.
Celebrating with a big party, the fact that Dones Visuals was recently awarded with the fine prize “Premis Ciutat de Barcelona” (The prize of the city of Barcelona). This same evening, I also gave an interview for the radio show Més Que Cinema, talking about my participation in AccióCurts and my next project: an anthology series “Las Mujeres también se tiran pedos”.
LAB: TRANSACTIONS, BOUNDARIES AND HYBRIDS
In contemplating her body of work, the artist and director Salomé Lamas compels the audience to explore new areas in non-fiction cinema. I participated in this project development workshop led by Salomé Lamas with the purpose of testing and investigating the boundaries of storytelling between fiction and non-nonfiction films for my documentary In My Words.
Pitcing event and
Pitching event and one-to-one meetings with industry professionals at the CCCB Theater. Here I presented my project Las mujeres también se tiran pedos (Women Fart Too), a short film based on an anecdote by Danish author Marie Louise Tüxen. I met two amazing female producers with whom I am now further developing the project. Hopefully, soon I will be able to explain more about this project.
ACCIÓCURTS was all together a great experience which I got to share with 11 other talented female directors.
12 women (myself included) and their film projects were selected for the third edition ACCIÓCURTS organized by Dones Visuals. We started out by receiving a most interesting and eye-opening master class in film history from a feminist point of view… or maybe I should say film history from a realistic point of view. Too many female film directors have simply been ignored and forgotten. How many people know that the first director in making a narrative fiction film was French woman Alice Guy-Blaché?
The next day we continued the with workshop in pitching and project consulting with the amazing Mercedes Martinez-Abarca a film industry program manager and adviser (International Film Festival Rotterdam, Abycine Albacete International Film Festival and Gijón International Film Festival).
Opening night at L'ALTERNATIVA FILM FESTIVAL
Opening night of the 26th edition of Barcelona Independent Film Festival, l'Alternativa with my good friend and colleague Massimo Perego. Parallel with the screening of Spanish films, International feature films and International short Films, l'Alternativa also offers free screenings, performances, master classes, debates, panel discussions, creative workshops and film schools seminars. In addition to all this they also host the ACCIÓCURTS organized by Dones Visuals in which I participated with my film Las mujeres también se tiran pedos (Women Fart Too).
Las Mujeres también se tiran pedos selected for AccióCurts 2019
I’m so excited to have been selected with my short film Women Fart Too (or in Spanish: Las Mujeres También Se Tiran Pedos) for the program AccióCurts 2019 by Dones Visuals and in collaboration with the Women's Cultural Centre La Bonne and the Independent Film Festival Film Festival L’Alternativa.
Cinema Club shortfilm Competition –
The Cinema Club is a short film competition created by The Collective & In The Mirror Films, where different directors get the opportunity to screen their short films, and an audience then vote for their favorite. The winning short films of these monthly competitions compete at The Finals, where a jury selects the best short film. The grand prize is the full production of the director’s next short film with equipment provided by The Collective.
This year’s finals took place on the 6th of September 2019, where I had both the pleasure and honor of being invited as part of the jury. Together with Musanna Ahmed, Sally Fenaux, Moises Tuñón, Eloïse Valli and Carles Mestres we selected Tahrib as the best short film.
Conversas is a series of weekly debate events where people come together to converse and discuss different subjects presented by three different invited speakers, who present a theme.
On July 3rd I participated as a speaker, where I presented the theme of my next documentary film: Virtuous Pedophiles. The full debate was filmed with the intention of possibly including it in the documentary film.
NACÍ ASÍ POSTER DONE
My latest short film Nací Así (Born This Way) is finally done and so is the poster.
NACÍ ASÍ SHOOTING
The 3 day intense shooting of my short film Nací Así is over. I am so excited to see the end result. The shoot was not without its challenges, but all in all it went really well and we finished right on schedule. We had an amazing crew and cast who all contributed to making the shoot smooth, fun and professional. Being on set is probably my favorite part of the entire process of filmmaking. It feels magical. You see how all your ideas and thoughts you had in your head come alive in front of you. It’s usually very intense and mixed with all sorts of feelings like stress, fear, joy, and if all goes well: relief.
Poetry & Storytelling Barcelona – OPEN MIC
How open-minded are you really? I will be talking about my new short film Nací Así and pedophilia at Poetry & Storytelling Barcelona this Thursday 14th of may at 9.30. Free entrance!!
LIVE at Barcelona City FM with Bobby Bastos
Today I was live on Bobby Bastos radio show at Barcelona City FM talking about my film Nací Así. I’m so grateful he would have my on the show and help me to do exactly what I am aiming for with this film: create debate awareness about such a controversial and delicate theme.
NACÍ ASÍ - SHOOTING
Together with my DP Eric Oh and actor Carlos Martinho we shot the teaser for my next short film Nací Así. It will be used for our Indiegogo campaign.
You can see the finished teaser here:
And the video for our Indiegogo campaign here:
On Friday the 1st of June 2018 at 8 pm in t.i.c.t.a.c. there will be a presentation of the short film made during the first workshop “Introduction to the new Cine X of adult cinema” taught by Sally Fenaux Barleycorn. I helped out with the camera at the shoot, as many of the students had little or no experience with a camera. They worked in groups of two or three people and would each prepare a couple of shots they would storyboards and eventually film. This type of new pornografic cinemas has an important philosophy that focuses on respecting and giving dignity to everyone involved in the making of it.
SCREENING of Moussa and the Education of Boxing at the Cinema Club
My short documentary film Moussa and the Education of Boxing screened at the Cinema Club event held at The Collective. I was a great evening with many interesting films.
THE SPANISH CONNECTION – SHOOTING
This was one of those really crazy and fun projects, that started out with a Danish actor coming to Barcelona with an idea and his small handycam, but then developed into a full blown professional film shot on the RED Weapon with the most amazing crew and cast. I was the assistant director to actor/director Eigil Hedegaard. We are all extremely excited to see the finished film.
